Our school year is rapidly coming to an end. Reminder: Thurs 6/7 is our 3's trip to Van Saun Park. I will send home the directions to the park and time to meet at the butterfly exhibit on Tuesday. Thurs 6/14 is our 3's pizza picnic in the playground. I will post a small sign up sheet for any items we will need and anything you might want to bring. Mon 6/11 is our 4's trip to Turtle Back Zoo. I will send home the directions to the park on Friday. Wed 6/13 is Prek 4 graduation. I will send home the info on Friday as well. Have a good week.

MAY DAYS REMINDER: Monday we will share our Baptism photos and stories. Wednesday is FIELD DAY we will enjoy all kinds of games and races with both prek classes. Since we will be outside for most of the day, please dress your child in shorts ,tees and sneakers. A field day t shirt will be given out in the morning. Please sunscreen your child before school. We will also be learning about Memorial Day. We will read about the sacredness of this day and why we should always be grateful for the men and women protecting us. Each morning we sing God Bless America. Ask your child to sing it for you. I promise it will be the sweetest you have ever heard. MAY 14, 2012 OUR BUTTERFLIES ARE HERE!! We waited the last few weeks for the great surprise God had planned and now we have four beautiful Painted Ladies. This week we will study the life cycle of the butterfly with stories, poems, fingerplays and many art activities. We will study the letter B and its sound. We will learn about bees and insects that are all around us. On Friday we will learn about the sacrament of Baptism. We will go to church and see the Baptismal font. I will be sending home a certificate that you may fill out with your child. On Monday (if you want) your child can bring in a photo of their Baptism and tell a story. It is always a lot of fun. Trip money is now past due. Please speak to me about what you need to do now.

MAY IS HERE

APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY FLOWERS... MAY IS THE MONTH FOR CELEBRATING MARY, QUEEN OF THE HEAVENS. WE WILL READ BOOKS, SING SONGS AND LEARN THE HAIL MARY TO HONOR OUR MOTHER, THE MOTHER OF JESUS. IN MAY WE HONOR ALL THE BEAUTIFUL MOTHERS THAT GOD HAS GIVEN TO LOVE AND CARE FOR US. THERE WILL BE MANY POEMS AND SONGS TO LEARN AS WELL AS GIFTS AND CARDS MADE BY LITTLE HANDS WITH LOVE. At long last we are getting April rain! I have been waiting to introduce the letter U (for umbrellas) and now the time has come. We will be "making" the color purple and reviewing all the colors when we color a caterpillar to celebrate the arrival of ours. On Friday, we celebrate Arbor Day. We will examine trees and learn all kinds of very interesting facts about them Reminder: exchange winter extra clothes for warm weather ones. Have a great week.

EARTH DAY

WELCOME BACK AFTER A GREAT HOLIDAY.

THIS WEEK WE WILL BE CELEBRATING OUR HOME, THE PLANET EARTH.

EACH GROUP WILL BE LEARNING ABOUT THIS WONDERFUL CREATION AND GIFT FROM GOD.
WE ARE ALL RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING IT CLEAN AND HEALTHY.

THERE WILL BE MANY STORIES, POEMS, SONGS AND ART PROJECTS TO BRING THE LESSON HOME TO YOU.

WE WILL END THE WEEK WORKING ALONG SIDE OUR FIFTH GRADE BUDDIES IN TIDYING UP OUR GROUNDS.

HAPPY EASTER

This week we will read many stories about the Easter miracle. We have been trying to get our hearts ready by doing our acts of kindness.

Of course, we can't leave the Easter Bunny out, so we will read and sing about him, too.

Our breakfast is WED. 9:30 in the gym. You come with your child at that time and go directly into the gym.

THURSDAY is a 12:30 dismissal for full day students. Our vacation begins then and we return on Monday, April 16th.

This week will be all about Spring and getting ready for Easter.

All our lessons will share these themes.

Our Easter Breakfast will be next Wed. April 4 th at 9:30 in the gym.
This will be for all PreK students and their families.

We will begin with breakfast, have a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny and an Easter Egg Hunt.

Sign up sheets for breakfast goodies will be posted in the class.

HAPPY SPRING

Can you believe it? Spring is here!!

This week we will talk about the Feast of St. Joseph (March 19th) and how he was an important figure in the life of Jesus. We will talk about the role that our dads play in our lives and what kind of things we like to do with our dad. We will end those lessons with a special prayer for all dads.

We will learn about the letter K. We will make kites and then take a "trip" to Australia to learn about the strange animals that live there, kangaroos and koalas.

There will be cutting, coloring and matching spring shapes.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY

This week is all about St. Patrick. We will read stories about him and learn why he became a saint. We will locate Ireland on the globe and look at pictures of the Emerald Island.

Our math, art and music will be all things Irish. We will count "gold" coins, create a few leprechauns and learn to dance an Irish jig and do the St. Pat's Pokey.

There will be fun stories about the magic of the leprechaun and weather permitting
(it is going to be beautiful) maybe sneak up on one!

We will celebrate on Thursday and Friday with special green treats. If you would like to send in something special , please let me know.

MARCH COMES IN LIKE A LION....
We welcomed March last week and the class aqreed it came in like a lamb.

We will be keeping track of the weather this month and tallying up at the end, was it a lion or lamb month.

March is GREEN. We will be studying the letter G, its sound and all kinds of G activities.

We will learn about lions, their habitats and how they are related to our own pet cats.

I am sure you heard about our GREEN EGGS. I am so happy to report that everyone tried them, not everyone did like them but I was proud they tried.

BELIEVE IT OR NOT!!

MARCH IS HERE!! Can spring be far behind?

There are many reasons to celebrate the month of March. We begin and end the month with a question, is it a lion or lamb day?

On Thursday and Friday we celebrate everyone's favorite doctor: DR. SEUSS

We will read his books, create art projects and learn about rhyming.

Our Lenten journey continues with more ways to show love, kindness and generosity.

I hope everyone had a great little vacation. Can you believe the month of February is coming to a close?

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and we begin our Lenten journey to the glory of Easter Sunday.

This week we will conclude our lessons on Presidents'Day with a celebration of the life of our first president, George Washington. I will read stories about him and we will finish our lesson with a couple of art activities.

We will be learning about Lent and how we are going to prepare our hearts for Jesus on Easter. Each day we will read a new suggestion on how we can be better friends and more kind at home and school.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

On Monday and Tuesday we will be celebrating Valentine's Day with special goodies, exchanging cards and singing love songs.

On Wednesday and Thursday we will celebrate the lives of our two greatest presidents.


On Friday we will have a special guest. Charlotte's grandfather is a local dentist and he will help us learn all we need for great dental health.

This week we will read several winter classics from around the world. We will hear The Mitten, The Hat and Snow. There will be lots of activities with the themes of these folk tales.

We will be studying animals and winter. We will talk about migration and hibernation.

On Thursday, February 2nd we will know if we have six more weeks of winter or is spring really here! We will hear stories about THE GROUND HOG, how and when the tradition started and we will learn a couple of cute songs.

This week we join in all Catholic schools across the nation to celebrate Catholic Schools Week. It is a week of special events that celebrate the students, faculty and the parents of our special gift, your child. There is a book fair, on TUESDAY STUDENTS MAY WEAR PAJAMAS TO SCHOOL, there will be a birthday bash and a charity fair.

REMINDER: 12:30 dismissal on FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3rd for full day students.

GUNG HAY FAT CHOY!!

Happy New Year! The beginning of the week we will be locating China on our globe and discussing the traditions of celebrating the Chinese New Year. 2012 is the year of the dragon, so we will be making dragon masks and snacking on fortune cookies.

Our letter of the week is S. We will be working on all things S: snow, snowmen,
sequencing, seasons and our senses. That's a lot of learning in one week! Hope yours is a good one.

Can you believe it is mid-January and we have not had snow yet?

Hopefully we will get a little so that we may enjoy all that is snow, but for now...both levels will be reviewing shapes. We will make shape collages, booklets and play shapes Bingo and other shape games

Our religion themes work in well with the celebration of Martin Luther King Day.
We will read about kindness, fairness and loving each other as God has showed us.

Friday, we will celebrate National Hat Day (who knew ?). Students may wear the hat of their choice and we should have fun learning the letter H.

Our letter of the week is W. We will learn its sound and how to write it.
Our themes will be all things beginning with W: winter, days of the week, weather and what to wear.

Our Prek-3's will focus on the color blue and the rectangle. We will have fun with those two lessons.
