Believe it or not, this is the last week of March! Last week we thought Spring had finally arrived. To our surprise there was more snow and cold days to deal with. Instead of making kites and flying them outside we made snow pictures. Hopefully we will make our kites this week. We will continue to "follow" Jesus by creating more ways that we can show that we can be friends of Jesus. I hope that all of the students that took the class trip to the Montclair Art Museum came away with lots of good things to share with you. How cool to ride on a school bus and get a tour of different types of art and then to be able to create your own! They are on display in our room. Take a look. Have a good week.

Sunday, March 20, 2011

On Friday, we will celebrate the Feast of St. Joseph. We will hear stories about how he loved Mary and Jesus. We will say a special prayer for all our dads. Since Joseph and Jesus were carpenters I thought it would be fun if your child would like to bring in something from home made of wood. It should be a fun sharing experience.

Winter really is a beautiful season. We sometimes forget what it was like when we were little and loved to play in the snow. You could stay outside for hours, building snowmen, tunnels, snow angels and great snowball battles. Now we just think about the hours of shoveling and plowing. Make sure you do get outside with your children and play for awhile. It might take you back to the days when snow meant a snow day off from school and having a blast.

This week we will read three classic winter stories, The Mitten, The Big Snow and The Hat.
There will be lots of activities with the themes of these tales. We will be studying animals and how they deal with winter. We will learn about migration and hibernation.

We celebrate Catholic School's Week with these special events: a book fair in the gym,
a talent show and birthday bash, PAJAMA DAY ON THURS. HAT DAY ON FRI.

On Thursday and Friday, we will have a mini show and tell. If your child would like to bring in a favorite gift they received (nothing valuable) and share its story we would enjoy that.

A great 2011 to you.
